Kate's Own Mustards

Part of our wish list of things to make (and make well), was always mustards. We just didn't have the time. When Kate joined us as our first employee in May of 2009, this subject was brought up, and she quickly volunteered for the task. The first one was an apple cider mustard, which is now the Mulled Apple Cider Mustard.

The second Mustard came about for Beaus' Oktoberfest. We were making our Beaus'wurst sausage, on a Beaus' beer bun, with our own Sauerkraut, and we need to have a Beaus' Beer Mustard.

The third variety happened, well, because we do a honey mustard chicken. So why not have a honey mustard.

The fourth, the red wine thai chili mustard, was originally for our friend Kyle, who wanted a spicy mustard.

The fifth variety came along when we first got in the maple vinegar. Kate's Maple Mustard is sweetened only with the vinegar, no actual maple syrup.

Created in December 2009, our sixth variety became the Cherry Boom. Kate was inspired one day seeing some sour cherries in our freezer. Inspiration hit again when seeing the Cascabel Chiles on our shelf (also known as the Cherry bomb chile). This has the heat of a mustard, with the sweet and sour taste of the cherries.

Tastings can be done anytime you come in the store. Kate makes them and keeps them fresh, updating the supply weekly.
